Proverb 19: 2, Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes.
Technology has impacted every aspect of our lives, mostly for the better but not without shortcomings. One unfortunate casualty of technological advancements is patience. Amazon Prime, Fresh Direct, Uber Eats, Facebook, Stock Trading apps, not to mention the biggest of all, Google! Technology has changed the way we shop, the way we eat and order food (takeout and grocery), the way we communicate (who writes letters anymore?), the way we “invest” (term used loosely), and the way we find information. All of these can be great advancements if used properly. At the end of the day, whatever we choose to buy, or say, or trade, or research still needs to be our decision, and we are responsible and accountable for it. Do not rely on technology to make decisions for you. Use technology as a tool, not a crutch. Prior to making an investment decision, I often said; “let’s sleep on it”. A good exercise to force yourself to step back for at least a time and take the opportunity to consider your position not in the heat of the moment. At the end of the day, it is your intelligence, experience, and thought process that will result in the best decision, not the top 5 Google hits.
